Hailing from Hell Town, Wisconsin, Dresden delivers the Midwest’s most recent answer to the West coasts’ domination of the U.S. crust scene. Laden with veterans (members of Wartorn, Despite, Words That Burn, Flags Will Cover The Coffins, and Remission), Dresden pulls from these backgrounds to create a new facet in the crust/metal sound. Riffs range from the Swedish hardcore (reminiscent of Wartorn and State of Fear), to the slow and melodic, to chug filled brutality along the lines of Stormcrow and Hellshock. Drums vary from breakneck d-beat to tribal, which are coupled with the screamed lead vocals and guttural backgrounds that put the finishing touch on this crushing ensemble. WARTORN Tainting Tomorrow With the Blood of Yesterday LP
The much anticipated second full length release from one of the most active DIY punk bands in existence. Contained herein are ten raging tracks of brutal hardcore with influences that range from 80’s American hardcore, Scandinavian d-beat thrash, and modern crustcore, including their own unique take on classics from POISON IDEA and STATE OF FEAR. RESIST Resistography double CD
A re-issue of their debut LP, originally released by Tribal War Records…. An extremely timely and pointed assault on the current state of non-living in the United Sates. Former Aus-Rotten lyricist and vocalist Dave moves on with former Aus-Rotten drummer Matt, along with Bill Chamberlain on guitar (formerly of The Pist, React, etc.), and another Matt on bass. What you get is brutal punk rock, with the power of a run-away steam roller, and some of the most relavent anarcho-punk lyrics and angry delivery today. The likeness to Aus-Rotten is undeniable, but add on the powerful sound of React and you can get an idea of what the next wave of anarcho-punk will sound like. The LP comes packaged with large Crass-style poster sleeves like all of the Aus-Rotten releases, while the CD now has a standard jewel case, with large fold-out insert.

Finally available on vinyl – the debut album from Los Angeles tribal grind / crust band RESISTANT CULTURE. Vinyl includes a bonus song not available on either CD version!
“Resistant Culture has claims to fame in guitarist Jesse Pintado (RIP), who, post-Napalm Death, was working with the band before his untimely passing, and vocalist Anthony Rezhawk (aka “Tony Militia”), who did the last Terrorizer album alongside Pintado. However, this band more than stands on its own, and I’m astounded that I didn’t hear of it earlier. This CD kills. It’s crusty grindcore with tribal influences – but the latter are truly tribal, working in Native American drums, chants, and flutes. The riffs are crushing, the recording is crisp, and blastbeats strafe the mix powerfully and precisely. 16 songs, 31 minutes, none less than fierce. Rezhawk’s vocals are strong and amazingly understandable: “Clear cut the heart / Strip mine the soul / Nature for profit / It’s all out of control.” These are sentiments I can definitely get with. BLACKOUT Stop the Clock CD

This tour-edition split CD that contains the tracks from APPALACHIAN TERROR UNIT’s “Armageddon Won’t Be Brought By the Gods…” EP (Exist 096) and WARTORN’s sold-out “Prey for Salvation” EP (Exist 099.5). A.T.U.’s sound has been compared to a modern day version of NAUSEA with crunching crust-core music and angry female vocals. FILTHAPCT were a brutal crust band hailing from Aberdeen, Scotland that sadly broke up in July of 2007. This CD is a fitting retrospective collection feautring allther band’s studio recordings from 2004-2005), some live recordings from Aberdeen, Poland and Ireland, unreleased material and a tonne of remixes by various Noise and Techno artists. A near-complete discography from Canada’s only anarchist DIY black metal band. MOUTH SEWN SHUT Doomed Future Today LP
Less than a year and a half after forming the band, Boston’s MOUTH SEWN SHUT unleash their second LP on Profane Existence and show a much more developed sound than before. The music is mainly a brutal fusion of fast hardcore and crust mixed with reggae and ska influences into a raw and original sound all their own. The bands extremely catchy and unique blend of musical genres sounds rather different than what you might expect when you think of punk mixed with reggae or ska. MSS has created a much more raw and aggressive interpretation of reggae music that at no point loses any power or brutality. The lyrics are totally political, but also have a deep sense of dark cynicism that points out that so much of this world has already been destroyed beyond repair by it’s human inhabitants and that we’re all running out of time. MSS are without a doubt one of the most active bands to be added to the PE roster and are touring extensively throughout 2007 and are already writing songs for their third full length. HAPPY BASTARDS Box of Hard Knocks CD
Over the past couple of years, HAPPY BASTARDS have become one of the staples of the Eugene punk movement, and supporting almost every touring DIY band who come their way. They have also self-released a split LP with HUMAN CERTAINTY and did a brief tour out to Minneapolis for CLIT-Fest ’05. Musically they play fast and powerful hardcore punk and are fronted by the remarkable voice of (“The Anti”) Christy, who also happens to be a columnist in Profane Existence magazine. On these twelve new songs, the HAPPY BASTARDS defy their name, playing in-your-face andf aggressive tunes with a message of anger, fear and despair (summed up brilliantly in Marald’s cover art). Think of raspy female vocals similar to Mia Zapata from THE GITS played over an intense assault of thrashy, but tuneful punk. Since the release of this CD, HAPPY BBASTARDS have toured the East Coast with THE COOTERS and West Coast with APPALACHIAN TERROR UNIT.

APPALACHIAN TERROR UNIT Armageddon Won’t Be Brought By Gods… 7″
Every once in a great while, a new band comes along with such intense fury that they capitvate all who hear and see them — APPALACHIAN TERROR UNIT is one such band. Hailing from the mountians of West Virginia, ATU belt out a thunderous chorus of eco-awareness and chastisement for mankind’s destructive ways (or at least those who are in control). Musically they combine classic punk, crust, and a hint of metal into a sound that’s likened to later years NAUSEA, totally reinforced by the strong female vocals throughout. Adding to the over-all amazing quality of this EP are additionals touches of brilliance, like the brutally powerful recording by Jay at the Jamroom in South Carolina (Antischism, Damad, etc.) and cover / poster art by Marald. Normally this sort of praise for a job well done is reserved for bands who have been around the block once or twice—not for the debut EP from a band barely formed a year ago. This energetic band has already completed one mini-tour of the US, is planning their second, as well as writing songs for their first full-length LP, due for release in 2008.

IMPERIAL LEATHER Antibodies EP 7″
Hailing from Stockholm, Sweden are IMPERIAL LEATHER, appropriately named from the brand of soap used by punks in the UK to charge their hair. In their five years existence, this band have made quite an impact in Sweden and beyond, having already toured Europe and the USA extensively, and released several EP’s and a cassette. Musically IMPERIAL LEATHER are classic punk rock, with a very UK ’82 type sound, with two vocalists who trade singing duties. We started 2004/2005 when our old band broke up, a band that had been going since 1995. Everyone from the old band except the bassplayer decided to continue to play music together so we added our friend Johan on bass. We are writing songs for our first album right now. ASS Sink CD
Five new tracks from the the snottiest DIY punk band in Minneapolis, whose message screams to be proud to be different, proud to Queer and be proud of non-conformist. Musically they play raw punk rock that would have fit in well with early 90’s East Bay bands such as BLATZ and FILTH, playing rousing scream-along anthems. Four of the songs are originals, while the final song is an appropriate cover of FAGGATRON’s classic Ass-Kick-a-Tron. STATE OF THE UNION In The Bitter End… A Discography CD
This discography disc includes five pulverizing new tracks (for an unreleased 12” recorded in 2000) plus their self-titled LP and both EPs in their entirety. STATE OF THE UNION played dark, introspective, and despair-driven gloom core in a style that groups them with likes of DYSTOPIA, CHRISTDRIVER, ASBESTODEATH and even some NEUROSIS and GODLESH. Originally formed in Rapid City, South Dakota, STATE OF THE UNION toured the country extensively and were a staple feature of Minneapolis’ underground punk / crust shows during the mid-late 90’s. On the strength of their live performances and their self-released debut EP, they were picked up by Profane Existence Records, who released their Rez-Erection EP in 1995. Shortly after the release of their second EP, the band sought to escape the dead-end scene of Rapid City relocated as a unit to Seattle, Washington. Once settled they went to work recording their first full length release, also released by Profane Existence in 1998. Although the first pressing of 1000 albums sold out in a matter of weeks, it was never repressed due to a three-year hiatus of Profane Existence Records from 1999-2002. The band recorded a second LP, slated for release in 2000, but the project faltered without a label and STATE OF THE UNION disbanded shortly thereafter. While STATE OF THE UNION remain one of the lesser known bands on Profane Existence Records, they have one of the most fiercely loyal following even to this date. Former SOTU members have no dropped out of the scene by any means and play on today in several other Seattle area bands such as SOD HAULER, WORMWOOD, ARID SEA and THE PRIDS. This CD is a long-overdue final testament and contains practically everything they ever recorded and has a total run time is 79:45!

THE COOTERS Punk Metal CD
THE COOTERS are a trio of punk metal bastards, willingly exiled to the backwoods of Mississippi to spread the gospels on the front lines. Being their third and best full-length release, this new CD was written and constructed over the course of three years and skillfully recorded by Tom Queyja in Oxford, Mississippi. THE COOTERS have been blowing away unsuspecting audiences since 1993, formed when bass player Newter Cooter returned to his home territory after living for some time in Minneapolis (where he previously formed the band PISSED and helped edit Profane Existence Magazine, not to mention his own ‘zine Assault With Intent to Free). THE COOTERS first EP was released in 1994 and have since been carefully crafting a sound that combines elements of punk, metal, and even some elements of classic southern blues, taking on serious political issues with humor and wit. DISRESPECT 2004 Recordings CD
DISRESPECT started in Minneapolis as a classic 80’s punk rock cover band by former and current members of DESTROY, MISERY, CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE, etc. and eventually started writing original songs in the same spirit. This is 80’s style anarcho-type punk with three vocalists (two male, one female). In 2004 they released their first two EP’s (the self-titled debut and Justice in a Bag, from which the cover artwork originates). Shortly thereafter, giving in to the digitally-impaired, DISRESPECT have collected their 2004 EP tracks onto one compact disc, which also features three previously unreleased covers from the likes of ABRASIVE WHEELS, L7, and TURBO NEGRO. GARMONBOZIA s/t LP
The long-awaited debut LP from Garmonbozia, whose previous demo and comp. track releases did a complete injstice to their sound. Haunting crust from Minneapolis with female vocals and cello, which varies from quiet and intricate melodies, to full-on d-beat thrash. They have been compared to the sounds of REMAINS OF THE DAY and MONUMENTS. Their lyrics have a very serious and angry tone to them taking on tough topics like mental health and patriarchal domination within the punk movement. While GARMONBOZIA have since broken up their message and music continue to influence the sounds and ideas of the anarcho-punk movement world-wide.

Another Oppressive System hail from Connecticut, the cradle of raw American crust, which has produced such bands as Deformed Conscience, State of Fear, React, Dissension, etc. Keeping up with local tradition they have assembled three of their finest tracks of power crust with urgent political lyrics. Human Waste are from Sweden and represent the perfect trans-Atlantic counterpunch, with three powerful tracks of their own similarly brutal and political crust. Both bands have released a series of brutal 7″s and split int he past, but these recordings are the best to date and honor for us to release as our first new 7″ in 6 years!
