Finally, the third LP from AGNOSY has arrived!

Dark, heavy, galloping crust from the streets of London. AGNOSY is back to present us with a ferocious beast of an album that can only be forged by the anger and frustration of living in today’s world. “When Daylight Reveals The Torture” aggressively attacks evils such the current rise of fascism and animal abuse. It intelligently and passionately touches on the Afrin invasion and the revolution in Rojava and shows nothing but utter disgust toward the arrogance of humankind’s lust for greed and power that will inevitably lead us down paths of war and environmental devastation.

While lyrically AGNOSY are much more politicly straight forward this time around than on previous releases, musically they have expanded on their sound to create a dark and moody atmosphere while at the same time staying crust as fuck. To say they know what they are doing would be an understatement from this band of vets whose members have played in HIATUS, HEALTH HAZARD, and BEGINNING OF THE END.

Long galloping intros are followed up by traditional d-beat, fierce solo’s are then meet with vicious vocals and pulverizing bass in a brilliant recording captured by Lewis Johns at The Ranch Production House and was mastered by Brad Boatright at Portland’s legendary Audiosiege. We then pressed on deluxe heavyweight 150-gram vinyl, printed on reverse board jackets, and included an 11in x 22in gatefold insert to bring you a high quality and truly epic record.

Free all Political Prisoners? More like Free a bunch of Trust Fund babies, Lazy sit-around beggars and junior high school drop-out, run-away from mommy and daddy, hop one train and brag about knowing life, tell everyone that you read Bakunin and then rob everyone, abuse some dog along the way (by not having the cash to feed it), act hard and start fights and complain that those you were attacking were posers and just in general be the most contradictory pieces of shit imaginable. Oi Polloi shouldn’t even play in this country, let alone the trendy cities that make up the tour dates. Its been a god-damn running gag across America since the early 90’s that everyone cant stop moving to places like Portland and Eugene; the ultimate consequence being that they move right back from whence they came in about 3 months. Can anyone guess why? There are no jobs. Wait….I thought we didnt need jobs. The answer is that the fantasy is exactly that; a bullshit fantasy. In the end, its all sweet patches, messenger bags, were you at this show, have you ever read this book (well i have (the implication being that theyre better than you )), I met so-and-s0 once and whatever else is flying that day posed as solidarity but in the end is just some gross justification of what in my opinion is a disgusting and perverse fad that continually is perpetuated. The idea that this subculture is unique, the idea that this subculture has changed anything and the idea that individuals moving into this subculture are defecting into something genuine is ridiculous. All of this is about making money. Profane Existence is about making money. Oi Polloi wouldnt be on this tour if all other financial means hadnt failed. How long did America wait for their great tour when they were at their prime? Maybe the band can be regaled with stories of the “WTO” and “TABD” actions. (Which by the way, went over like shit) Maybe some “Black Block” assholes can try to explain why their actions failed at those protests (I bet its someone else’s fault and not their own poor organization which led to chaos and people being hurt; remember, they’re anarchists and concerned with the rights of the common man (which is why they instigated activities that caused peaceful protesters to be inundated with tear gas and rubber bullets while they ran away)). This entire scene has been a joke since the very beginning; its just that no one (maybe besides Wattie Buchan) recognized it. Its the reason that ‘Crass’ disbanded (or planned to) in 1984; its just a gimmick, a theatrical piece that attempts to reach others. Its grossly self-perpetuating and an all out fallacy. There is nothing more embarrassing then what this scene has been and has become. (Its like ‘Aus Rotten’ pretending that theyre not a really shitty rip off of ‘The Pist.’ That being said, I’ve always liked Oi Polloi. Theyre not coming anywhere remotely close to where i could attend a show but if they were I’d buy all the drinks and engage in a healthy and much needed debate about the entire enterprise. I hope that you will as well. —–Francis Mulvaney
while you do bring up some good points, I dont agree 100% with your complete cynicism. I will respect you enough to post this comment, in order to let others have the whole gammit of ideas, and out of the general respect that I give everyone that comments on these posts.
